Your Neuroscale-issued laptop ships pre-configured with the required security baseline. Use this checklist on day one to confirm everything is set up.

Required

  • Sign in to your Neuroscale email — this enrolls your device in MDM (Rippling).
  • Confirm full-disk encryption is enabled — FileVault on macOS, BitLocker on Windows. MDM enforces this; verify in System Preferences / Settings.
  • Confirm endpoint protection is running — Rippling. There should be an icon in your menu bar / system tray.
  • Set screen lock to 5 minutes of inactivity (also enforced by MDM).
  • Enroll in MFA. See MFA setup.
  • Install the password manager — Dashlane. See Password management.
  • Sign in to Slackneuroscale.slack.com.
  • Install Cloudflare One (WARP) — the standard VPN and Zero Trust access client for all Neuroscale staff. Required to be running whenever your laptop is online; mandatory when working from public Wi-Fi or any network outside a Neuroscale-managed location.
  • Install Tailscale only if you need production-infrastructure access — Engineering On-call, System Owners, and engineers with documented production access. Tailscale is not the general employee VPN; if you don’t manage infrastructure, skip it. See Access requests.

Things you should not do

  • Don’t disable FileVault / BitLocker.
  • Don’t disable or alter endpoint protection.
  • Don’t install software from outside official stores or the approved-software list in Notion — request via account requests if you need something.
  • Don’t store confidential data on USB drives, external disks, or non-company cloud storage.
